Why is the 1st stage performed 1000 km before the oil change, and why is a multi-stage treatment needed?
Most high-mileage engines have carbon, lacquer, and sludge deposits in the combustion chamber and piston ring friction zones. The first stage serves as a deep cleaning process. The formulation gently dissolves lacquers and removes the distorted, loosened micro-layer of metal in the most loaded friction areas.
If an engine is heavily contaminated, solid carbon particles can act as an abrasive, disrupting the formation of the new protective layer. Therefore, all dissolved dirt must be completely drained from the engine along with the old oil and filter before continuing the treatment in a clean environment.
My automatic transmission started jerking. I added Atomium for automatic gearboxes, but the shifts became even harsher during the first 100 km. What is happening?
A temporary shift instability is a normal reaction during the first 100–300 km of mileage after adding the formulation. "Atomium" possesses powerful cleaning properties. Once in the system, it begins to gently dissolve deposits in the valve body channels and on the solenoids while activating pressure redistribution in the actuators.
The positive effect (smooth gear shifting and noise reduction) typically occurs after 500–1000 km of mileage. During this adaptation period, it is crucial to maintain a calm, smooth driving style, avoiding harsh accelerations and wheel spins.
The engine oil capacity is 5.5 liters. How many bottles of "Atomium" should I add at each stage?
The dosage of tribotechnical formulations is calculated strictly based on the vehicle's engine oil capacity.
For passenger cars, the standard dosage is 1 bottle per stage, provided the oil capacity does not exceed 5 liters. Since your engine's oil capacity is 5.5 liters (over 5 liters), you must double the dosage and add 2 bottles of the formulation at each stage of the treatment.
Can I start using "Atomium" if an oil additive from another manufacturer is already in the engine?
Yes, "Atomium" treatment can be effectively performed even after using other additives. However, to eliminate any unpredictable chemical interactions between the components of the old additive and the new formulation, the treatment must begin strictly after a complete oil and filter change. Adding the first bottle into oil that already contains a foreign additive is not recommended.
I added "Atomium" into a warm engine but did not start it, driving only the next day. Will there be an effect?
In this case, the efficiency of the first stage will be virtually zero. Over the night, the heavy mineral micro-particles will settle into a dense sediment at the bottom of the oil pan. When you start the car the next day, they will not be able to properly rise and distribute across the friction surfaces.
The instructions strictly require: immediately after adding the formulation, start the engine and drive continuously for at least 20–30 minutes. If this rule was broken, this specific treatment stage must be repeated.
Why can I drive no more than 1000–1500 km during the 1st stage, while the subsequent stages last for the regular oil interval?
The first stage involves intensive cleaning of the friction surfaces. All dissolved organic deposits and sludge are picked up by the oil and trapped by the oil filter, rapidly reducing its capacity.
If you drive more than 1500 km during the first stage, the filter may clog completely. This opens the bypass valve, letting dirty oil flow into the engine unfiltered, risking oil starvation. During the subsequent stages, the engine is already clean, allowing the formulations to work throughout the regular service interval.
I added the first bottle of "Atomium" into the old oil, and the engine started smoking worse than before. What is wrong?
This is a normal and predictable reaction during the first stage. The formulation actively cleans the piston grooves and releases stuck piston rings. During this carbon cleaning process, years of accumulated soot soften and burn off in the combustion chamber, temporarily increasing exhaust smoke. Continue the treatment strictly by the manual: after the oil change and transition to the second stage, the smoking will disappear, and compression will equalize.
